BACKFLOW TESTING
SUMMARY:
1) All back flow devices on
homes must be tested annually per TCEQ regulations
2) Forest Glen Utility (FGU)
will be testing all homes from January 16- Until Complete (usually one week),
you do not have to call to request the testing.
3) The cost of the testing is
$50 and will be on your February or March Yancey water bill.
4) You may hire your own
certified back flow preventer Inspector to test your system and submit the
paperwork to Forest Glen Utility. The pass paperwork must be received by FGU by
January 15, 2017 in order to opt out of the testing by the FGU
contractor.
5) The homeowner is
responsible for all repairs necessary for the device in order to pass the
inspection. If the FGU contractor discovers that your device requires repairs,
a note will be placed on your front door with the estimated cost of the repair.
Please contact Forest Glen Utility with in 5 days to inform us if you are
hiring your own certified back flow inspector to make the necessary repairs or
if you would like FGU’s contractor to perform the necessary repairs. If you do
not contact FGU within 5 days of the repair letter, the repair will
automatically be made and billed on your Yancey Water bill. In the event the
homeowner elects to hire their own certified repairman, FGU requires the
original pass inspection paperwork from the repairman within 14 calendar days
of the notice of repairs.

Forest Glen Utilities is the
re-use and waste water provider, but for the convenience of the homeowners, Forest
Glen contracts with Yancey to do the billing for them. This enables the
homeowners to receive one bill for all utilities instead of various ones. The
benefits of irrigating with gray water are to protect the environment, conserve
water, and save on water bills.
